There is something interesting with R2 that is very useful.
We have a customer where we use webservices and we wanted to send a routine that takes some hours to finish to be run in webservices so the NAS has not do it and the NAS does not wait for the end of the routine. So we tried it but the webservice crashed and we didn’t find out why. Not having time to investigate, it is still running in NAS. Now we converted the database (a test database) to NAV2009 R2 and I was working on some other thing and when I wanted to compile and save (only compiling does not show anything) an object, a system form came up with in it this warning : “Function ‘QUERYREPLACE’ is obsolete for Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server.”. Seeing this error, I remembered I read this some time ago…. Together with this, it also shows in which object, function and also the line no. of the error. Having this error, I tried it out with Webservices and indeed. If the object has the “QUERYREPLACE” in it, the webservice doesn’t even start! Even nicer: if you compile multiple objects in one go, you also have that form. And there is a button to go directly into design of the object that generated the warning! This is a great help to find out if an object is ready to be used in webservices or not. Probably it is not enough to find all possible problems, but it definitely will help. Another reason to (technically) upgrade to NAV2009 R2! Читать дальше
