Cause:
Dynamics AX client is a 32 bit application. A 32 bit application will not be able to send mail via MAPI when Microsoft Outlook is 64 bit.

Resolution:
Install Microsoft Office 2010 32 bit on the workstation you are trying to send the email from within Dynamics AX.
