stoneridgesoftware: What Does an Upgrade from Dynamics AX 2009 to Dynamics 365 Look Like?
Источник: https://stoneridgesoftware.com/what-...365-look-like/
==============

You might have a lot of questions about how an upgrade from AX 2009 to Dynamics 365 would look like for you. How much will it cost? How long is it going to take? I’ll walk through some of those steps and the questions you need to start asking yourself if you’re considering the upgrade.

If you’re on Dynamics AX 2009, you’re probably considering upgrading to Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (D365). If you are, there’s a lot of good reasons to think about it. D365 is browser-based which gives you many options and a really modern platform to move to. In D365, you can choose to have it hosted in the cloud, meaning you wouldn’t need to have any hardware at your physical site which is super nice for lots of different companies. You also have the choice of having it on-premise if you prefer to have hardware and to host it yourself. Either option is available with D365, so there are some choices there that didn’t exist on Dynamics AX 2009 or Dynamics AX 2012.

If you are considering upgrading beyond the licensing and where you want to have the software hosted, there are other things to start considering in your upgrade. The first thing I’d think about is process improvements.
  • What processes do you do right now that are tricky for you?
  • Are there some features being deprecated in AX 2009 that you need to find a replacement for in D365?
  • Are there new features, modules, and processes that you want to take advantage of in D365 that don’t exist in 2009?
The product has changed significantly since 2009 came out. There are lots of new things in the world and some of them, including D365, can make a huge difference for your business if you want to adopt or reshape what you do now.

Another thing to ask yourself about is the ISVs, customizations, reports, and integrations that you have. All four of those things play a major part in your installation. I would also encourage you to think about your data migration. To move from AX 2009 to D365 is really a data migration. It’s not an upgrade as it would’ve been from AX 2009 to AX 2012. This requires taking out data from your AX 2009 system, whatever you want to extract, and then importing it into your Dynamics 365 for Operations environment. There is a process and tooling for that, but you’ll need to consider what you want to move. The more data you move, the longer the time frame it takes to move it.

There’s a lot of differences between Dynamics AX 2009 and Dynamics 365 for Operations. If you need help considering these options, reach out to us. Additionally, visit our Dynamics AX 2009 to Dynamics 365 for Operations Upgrade webpage for more details on an upgrade assessment. We cover how we’d help you work through these questions, and get you to some estimates around the level of effort and cost for your company.
