You will need to re-install Visual Studio 20087 SP1 *after* installing Team Explorer 2008; you can then apply the TFS2010 Forward Compatibility Hotfix (KB974558) - I've had exactly the same problem on Windows Server 2003 and this fixed the issue

My problem is VS 2010.
I know that if I have vs 2008, only I need to install KB974558. And more TFS 2010 does not support oficially. That means I may do not have any error at first, but lately some futures may not work.
