When Microsoft first announced it was going to introduce a CRM application some three years ago, it sent a minor shock wave through the industry.
... In fact, since its original release, Microsoft CRM has made significant gains. It now counts some 3,500 companies -- slightly more than 70,000 users -- as its client base, according to Brad Wilson, general manager for Microsoft Business Solutions CRM. ... Enterprise adoption already is taking place, Wilson said. "We are seeing a lot of larger deals coming our way." Many of these are firms that previously tried the traditional enterprise CRM providers and had problems with user adoption or software implementation and integration issues, he claimed. When 2.0 comes out, there will be further impetus for companies to adopt Microsoft CRM, as it will offer a more comprehensive suite and better customization features, Wilson notes, such as custom entities for vertical-specific and company-specific extensions.
